Our Story
Starting with John Wesley Tillman
Founded by Mr. John Wesley Tillman in 1975. Tillman started Dawes Grass Farm with one man and one truck servicing the residents of Mobile county every day. Finding out that there was a greater need in the turf industry, he later turned his cattle farm into a sod farm that now produces turf grasses that are supplied to commercial and residential areas throughout Mississippi and Alabama.
On September 5, 2014, Mr. Tillman passed away and his family continues to serve the area with the same quality and service that Dawes Grass Farm is known for.
